The Role

Macquarie University Health Clinics (MU Health Clinics) is seeking motivated individuals to join our dynamic and fast-paced environments as a Medical Receptionist and Administrative Assistant. The role will be responsible for the provision of high-quality administrative support services for specialist at MU Health Clinics.

You will work closely with a collaborative team to ensure a high-quality patient experience, enabling the MU Health team to run efficient, professional practices. The roles require a strong commitment to excellent customer service, patient-centred care, and attention to detail.

This is a fantastic opportunity to grow your professional career within a fully integrated academic health precinct and work across various variety of clinics with the organisation. This will boast your exposure to different specialties to help expand your administrative and clinical support skills across multiple environments.

These roles operate Monday to Friday only, offering a stable schedule with no weekend work.

Key accountabilities include (not limited to):

  • Provide administrative support and liaise with patients in person and over the phone
  • Manage patient appointments with clinicians
  • Ensure patients are billed in an accurate and timely manner
  • Update and maintain confidentiality of patient records
  • Communicating, liaising and coordinating duties with other administrative and reception staff in the clinic and throughout other MQ Health and affiliated clinics
  • Reconciling end of day cash/EFTPOS and undertaking associated banking tasks

About You

You will be an enthusiastic, professional individual who enjoys interacting with patients and takes pride in delivering exceptional customer service. You will bring strong reception, phone-handling and clinic/medical administration skills, along with the ability to work efficiently in a lively environment. Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise competing tasks are essential. You will have previous reception/administration or customer service experience (medical receptionist experience highly desired)

Essential

  • Demonstrated reception/administration or customer service experience. Experience in a general or specialist medical practice or hospital setting is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated sound verbal and written communication skills and ability to build rapport and empathise with patients and families.
  • Demonstrated commitment to a high level of customer service delivered in a professional manner at all times.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly competency in health-related software packages highly desired
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Excellent organisational, time management and attention to detail skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team or individually as required.
